Research shows that many organizations are using the external labor market for more than 50% of their higher level leadership needs.   Newly hired or promoted leaders who make a smooth transition reach solid performance 40% faster than their peers, directly impacting the bottom line.  Despite these numbers, literature suggests that serious challenges exist for external hires, manifesting in an almost 40% failure rate in the first 18 months among external candidates.  The most common reason for their failure is what is known as leadership derailment behaviors.  This presentation will uncover the dynamics of leadership derailment; identify the transition activities that have the highest impact on performance and avoidance of derailment; and teach you how to set a simple, clear plan for managing all levels of leaders transitions for bottom line impact.
The program will be presented by Danielle Lombard-Sims, SPHR, DIrector of Organizational Effectiveness for Ochsner Health Systems.   In her role, Ms. Lombard-Sims is responsible for leadership development, employee engagement, and talent management.  She has over 16 years of human resources experience, assisting a broad base of Fortune 500 companies. She earned her Senior Professional in HR certification (SPHR) in 1999. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Spring Hill College, obtained a Master’s Degree from Purdue University in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, and a second Master’s Degree in Management from Indiana Wesleyan University. .She has presented for strategic credit at three local SHRM conferences, and has co-authored three research articles, which were published in the Journal of Business and Psychology, Computers and Human Behavior, and the Journal of Developmental Education.

This program has been approved for 1.0 General Recertification Credit Hours by the HR Certification Institute.
